Fear-less.  What a feeling.

I am currently in a 7 day 7 night, super intensive but brain stimulating seminar run by my mentor Mr. Joel Bauer.  A room filled with amazing individuals from all walks of life, everyone with incredible skills, and yet everyone on a journey.   Everyone has their demons they want to battle, to overcome, and allow the superhero in them to shine even brighter.

 Fearless Vs Fear-Less

When I was younger, I used to feel invincible in so many ways.  Nothing could take me down.  For some things I felt fearless.  (actually probably lucky they didn’t kill me … lol!)

Despite your best intentions, sometimes stuff happens in life that knocks you down.   Death of loved ones, illness, career changes, finances … and to every individual different things will have more impact than on others.  That’s what makes this world so interesting, something that one person will seek with a vengeance, another will attempt to avoid…terrified.

Making the Commitment

One of the things I found when I was listening to Joel, was that he brought back that glorious feeling of wrapping my body in armour and just going out and living life without hesitation.  I made a commitment to myself, with Joel’s unknowing help, to lift myself from the gray that “stuff” had thrust itself upon me.  I decided I no longer welcomed the feeling of fear in my life.  I know there are many real dangers in the world, and so I didn’t want to strive to be fearless…because I think the only person who is truly fearless is someone who would be clinically ruled a psychopath.  I think it is healthy to still feel and to battle.  But I did want to fear-less.

And I did.

Deciding to fear-less has enabled me to make so many life altering choices in the past 12 months since I last sat with Joel for a seminar in LA.  Amongst other things I have switched my job, I have created this website, I have written a book (well 85% complete), I have helped relatives seek to accomplish and live their dreams, I lost weight, I have coached teams to championships and to top division rankings.    The other day I made a list of all the things I had accomplished in the past 12 months, since I made my decision to fear-less, and it was so empowering!

Fear is a stress.  Less fear.  Less stress.  Fear-less.

Just Stop It!

Joel showed an old video clip of Bob Newhart, playing a counsellor.  A client came in, Bob listened for 2 minutes and then  told her that he had her solution.  She was excited to hear it.  He said “Stop it!”     Just “stop it, stop it, stop it”.   The message was that fear is not reality, fear is an emotion that we can control.  So he wanted her to just fear-less.

I have many things planned to accomplish over the next 12 months…I wonder how cool my list will be when I look back this time next year?

Stress Melted Away On The Beach

We just recently returned from a week in paradise,

and fully experienced the beautiful feeling of bliss

as my stress melted away on the beaches of Punta Cana.


I prepared myself in advance by:

  • buying lots of sun screen
  • taking out some US $ just in case money
  • packing as little clothes as possible
  • covering myself at work with back up
  • leaving my phone at home!!

I’d never been to Punta Cana before, but we researched the resorts on the internet, and felt pretty good about the choice we made…and we were not disappointed!  During those 7 days, my stress melted away little by little!

The staff were so friendly.  Always smiling and singing and dancing.

The Spanish music constantly playing was so lively, so happy!   I could not help but feel great!

Sunshine & Outdoors = Stress Melted Away

Sitting on the beach or by the pool, soaking in the rays.  Careful to apply my sunscreen (burning is not relaxing).  Feeling the wind from the ocean.  The sun rejuvenated me.   The sun always helps my body relax.

Exercise = Stress Melted Away

Taking long, relaxing walks on the beach.  Playing beach volleyball for hours.  Swimming and stretching in the pool.   Things like these help your body get rid of stress that has built up.

I didn’t check in with work . I didn’t care about the time or the news or the markets or anything.  My main concern was should I get second helpings (or third or fourth helpings) at the buffet?  Should I turn my chair a slight angle to catch the rays at the best angle?   We can become slaves to our iPhones and Blackberry devices … sometimes you just have to turn it off…or better yet…leave it at home.

It may feel like there is never the perfect time to get away on vacation.  We are too busy.  It is too expensive.  Who will feed the dog while we are away?  Can’t get time off work.

Sometimes it may seem like getting away just isn’t possible.  But sometimes you just have to do it.

We all need to recharge our batteries.

For me….smiling, catching some rays, exercising, breathing deeply, and just getting away from the everyday…escaping to paradise even for a few days…helps keep me feeling alive!  And when I feel alive, I know that when I get back, I will be able to be that much better at everything I do back home.

We need to take care of ourselves, so that we can take care of others.

We must de-stress ourselves so that we can continue to glow and grow.

We are already thinking of when we will go back…and having that happy thought in our minds is a stress reliever in it’s self!





Results Of My (Tony’s) 21 Day Health Transformation

Well today is day 21 of my 21 Day Health Transformation.  I have noticed some amazing differences.   I hope that you will all get to try this sometime soon.

My main intention was to take control of my lifestyle.   To be the boss of me.  To take so many of the things I have learned…about what I eat, what I think, what I do exercise wise, how I breathe…and do it for 21 days…to see what results I would get.    For me to do it, as living proof, and then to share it with those who were looking to make a change in their own lives.

I have seen too many people walking around like zombies.  Living life in a fog.  Slowly dying inside.  Losing who they were.  Not becoming who they wanted to be.  Eating crap for food.  Poisoning their bodies.  Feeding crap into their minds.  Becoming jaded, unfocused.  Not moving their bodies.  Becoming sedentary, and just accepting the lack of energy and the aches and pains that built up.  Letting their auras stagnate.  Drowning slowly.    I know because I was one of them.  And so I can sense it in others.

Over my 21 days, the thing that I am most blown away with, is how much more energy I have.    It is crazy!  Some nights I have been up late doing creative stuff because my mind was on fire.  And so many mornings I have naturally, without an alarm clock, just arisen, wide awake, alert and ready to go.   In case you don’t know me…that was not something I am used to.   Getting up was always a chore, fatigue was a natural feeling for me.   But in these 21 days, especially as they wore on,  I got generally really good sleeps, and woke up refreshed and ready to roar!    I did my breathing exercises each day, to oxygenate my body.    I crave my walk each day (and my cravings for chocolate have decreased dramatically).   I feel good about myself because I made so many good decisions in the 21 days about what not to eat, and what to eat….what would hurt my body and what would heal my body.  I know that applying this is the answer to allowing my body to be as healthy as possible.  Preventative health care, instead of reactive health care and medicine.    

Even though s*ht happened to me last week, I was able to cope with it and not break down like in the past I might have by getting sick, or going on a binge junk food attack.  I dealt with my stresses in a healthier way.  I had a more positive attitude due to the mental exercises I did daily.   Life seems so very bright.

And oh, by the way, in the 21 days, I lost 14 pounds, and I have to take my belt in because my pants keep sliding down a bit!  I didn’t diet.  I was never hungry.  I generally ate immediately when I felt a twinge of hunger.   As I’ve said from the beginning, the 21 Day Health Transformation is not about losing weight.  It is about  regaining your life and your energy, about strengthening your body from the inside out and protecting yourself from sickness and disease that may be entire avoidable…and you just may find you begin to lose some pounds and transform your body as well.

The very first 21 Day Health Transformation session officially starts this coming Sunday August 26th.   You have until midnight Tuesday August 21st to register, because I will start sending out some prep material right after that.   I am very excited for those of you registered, I have some great tips and exercises that I believe will really help you as they have me.

I am the luckiest man alive.  I have a wonderful family, I have my health back, I have true and great friends, I get to follow so many of my passions including coaching and helping people, I live in a great country.  I feel blessed to be able to share with you all that I have learned over this past decade plus…so that you don’t have to go what I went through.

Weight Loss: 6.8 Pounds in 7 Days

Weight Loss

Wow. My weight loss in the first 7 days of the 21 Day Health Transformation is  6.8 pounds, approx 1 lb per day.  Crazy!  Nice!  Motivating!  The 21 Day Health Transformation is not just about weight loss, no, not at all.  It is about becoming healthy from the inside out.  It is about de-stressing yourself. It is about having positive mental habits.  It is about feel healthier, happier and more energized.  It is about feeling fully alive again.  But hey, as a side effect, a little weight loss is not a bad thing eh? (Yes I am Canadian …eh!)

I wanted to share with you a couple of announcements, especially for those of you receiving my posts automatically via email.

Improvements To The Site

I have modified the entire look of the site (and will be continuing to add more valuable content and make it visually more appealing).  Please check it out and tell me if you think it is an improvement over the earlier version.  What other things would you like to see in the future on the site, or subjects you would like addressed?

Why Has It Been Re-named Health Transformation?

The 21 Day Health Challenge has been renamed to the 21 Day Health Transformation because I don’t want people to think this is scary, or competitive or anything like that.  It is not.  This is just a time for YOU to work on YOU.    To implement things; perhaps new things, perhaps things you knew already but have forgotten; and to have someone there with you everyday so that you don’t feel like you are alone.  We can do wonderful things when we work together.  You are all one of the things that is making these 21 days even more fun for me! Weight loss may be  part of your health transformation…but there is so much more to get as well!

How Have I Achieved This Weight Loss?

I am keeping logs of exactly what I am doing during my 21 days, and will share that with all of you who register for the 21 Day Health Transformation. (which is free this time only)   However, you need to know that I am really not doing that much different from what I normally do!  I still go to work each day. I still coach soccer.  I still drive my kids around from place to place.  I still work on this website.  I am still planning for the fall basketball season.  I am pretty darn busy as always.   Why the exciting results of feeling more energy and weight loss (actually 2 people at my region meeting complimented me on my weight loss…and I didn’t even think it was noticeable at all…but it was nice to hear) if I am mostly doing the same I usually do?  Well it is because of the “mostly”  You see there are some key things I am doing differently (they may be small things…but they are CRITICAL things, and that is what I will share with you in the 21 Day Health Transformation.)    Seriously…isn’t it time for you to change even part of your life…to do even a little transformation?

An Alkaline Body Is Key To Good Health – Pre 21 Day Transformation Post 1

Keeping your body in an alkaline state is one of the basic principles I discovered that has really helped me, and is based on the work of Dr. Young.  The principles just seemed to make sense to me,  and by applying them I have strengthened my body from the inside out quite dramatically.   I used to be sick all the time.  I would catch any cold…and it would stay with me for what seemed forever.  If someone was sick near me, I would run away.   I had severe sinus problems frequently. I got sinus infections, red irritated eyes.  Now I seldom, and I mean rarely, get sick (and if I do, it is 1/10th of what I used to get when I get a cold…because I actually get rid of it quickly)…and oh, yeah, it helped me lose 30 pounds.  Basically I feel like it was one of the bigger steps in giving me my life and health back.

So what does it mean to be  alkaline?

One of the people who I consider a mentor is Dr. Young.  He says the ideal blood pH is 7.365.   He believes that when your body gets overly acidic, that is the major cause of many illnesses.  So if you keep a more alkaline body, you will have a healthier body.  I can’t argue with this because since I started living by some of these principles I have felt much healthier.

As well, he says that acid can cause a body to hold on to extra fat.  Fat is used to help protect the body from too much acid.  So if you have excess acid, then the body will create fat cells to carry acids away from vital organs in an effort to protect them.  So in a sense the fat is saving your life..but only if you need it due to overacidity.  So decrease the acidity of your body, and your body will have less reason to hold fat…it can release it.    Again, I can’t argue, because I have lost a good amount of weight since ensuring my body is more alkaline.

Our life styles are very acidic.  Too much stress contributes to an acidic lifestyle.  A poor diet filled with processed foods and sugar contributes to an acidic lifestyle.   We are literally killing ourselves with our lifestyle.

So what can you do?

You can take control of your life and change things that are 100% within your ability to change.

Make your body more alkaline!  Eat a more alkaline diet.  Lots of fresh vegetables, especially green vegetables!  Eat as much as you can raw, and what you can’t eat raw, cook at low temperatures.  Don’t microwave if you can avoid it.  Drink lots of good water.  Decrease your sugar.  Avoid processed foods as much as possible.  Avoid bad salt.  East good salt.  Avoid bad fat.  Eat good fat.  Avoid dairy products as much as possible (there seems to be a huge connection between dairy and sinus problems) Avoid meat if possible. Decrease your coffee, your alcohol.   (I can hear some of you saying…Are you kidding me?  What is left to eat?  Don’t worry there is cornucopia of good things to eat…and you can modify your diet as slowly as you want…it is fully up to you…you are the boss of your body!)

Good Food to Eat #1

Here is one example of a great food to eat to make yourself more alkaline.  Cucumbers.  Cucumbers are said to be 95% water, so they play an important part in helping to hydrate your body naturally…so yes you can actually drink water while eating!  Some initial research shows they may have antioxidant and anti-inflamatory properties.  They are fat free, cholesterol free, salt free.  Cucumbers can be a source of nutrients and minerals.  And as found in www.whfoods.com,  “Cucumbers are now known to contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol–three lignans that have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as well as several cancer types, including breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers.”    Funny I used to really detest cucumbers. Just didn’t like them.  But as I educated myself, I began to see how good they were for me, so I tried eating them with a new frame of mind.  Lo and behold, I actually like them now!   Amazing how the more one educates themselves, the different ways things are viewed.

I use cucumbers as my main base in juicing (It is amazing how much nice refreshing green water comes out of them when I juice!). I put them in salads.  I put them on a Subway sub if I have one.  They are delicious, refreshing, they are filled with good water so they help hydrate you, and they are super alkalizing.

I am listing cucumbers first because they are easy to find, relatively cheap to buy, they can be used in a number of ways, they help hydrate your body, and they naturally taste good.  So cucumbers are one of the best foods you can eat.  As you begin to build your list of foods to buy in preparation for the health challenge this is one of them.

Tomorrow I will start to delve more into more specifics of what other foods can heal  (like the cucumber) and what foods can harm you.

21 Day Health Challenge! Get Ready!

Yesterday I started off the day in a fine fashion!  I went for my “powerwalk” with Shandog, and my energy was on high so we flew through the walk.  When I got home, my wife Liza and I went to see a movie (haven’t done that for a while)…and while there I had some popcorn and m&m almonds (but no pop…lol…day 21 without pop I think).   After that we had a party to go to at a bowling alley for my dear cousin.  Well, we got there, and I was famished because I hadn’t really eaten anything…so I ate a Coffee Crisp chocolate bar.  Then pizza came, and then we top it off with ice cream cake from Dairy Queen (but no pop…lol!)  Healthy food is never handy at these places…you have to prepare…and I was not prepared.

So as I was driving home last night I reflected on my actions (it started off so well…but then slid downhill) and what I ate that day, and I was suddenly overwhelmed with disgust for myself.  I mean I generally eat pretty well, but then it is all too easy to just eat CRAP!  So I decided that when I woke up today, I would officially launch MY 21 day health challenge (for myself).  No more room for wussies!  It was time to just do it!   Yes, I have lost 30 pounds over the past year and a bit…but I plateaued and was just hovering around 220…because I had become satisfied with my accomplishment.  But when I was walking across the bowling alley in a white t-shirt that glowed under the black lights, and I saw my gut pressing out against it I sounded realized that I was not happy where I am!   It is time to go to the next level…down.  And I know that by doing this I will not only lose weight, but I will feel better and better as I detoxify my body…and get more and more energy!

So what I will do is record every detail of my next 21 days, and when those 21 days are over,  I will share those with you.  I also have made a set of coaching/support short videos 2 – 5 minutes long that I will send to those who are interested in changing their lives when they embark on their own health challenge in 3 weeks time! They will get one every day of those 21 days…and then they will continue at a more moderate pace for at the least the next 6 months.  This is for people who are tired of being tired!  Who want to live more to their potential.  Who want to learn how to help themselves heal, and help themselves feel better.  Usually there is a nominal fee for this cool program, but I may let the first group of people do it for free (or at some crazy discount) …  I haven’t made up my mind about that yet.  But I will tell you the coaching is powerful, educational, motivational…and you are MUCH more likely to actually follow though and keep going if you have a partner spending time with you every single day who wants with all their heart to see you succeed!  Having a partner to encourage you when you feel like giving up is priceless.

So over the next 21 days I will begin to prepare you for your own health challenge.  I will start sharing actual food tips…what to eat, what not to eat; what should we drink; snack on; exercises; meditations; what to think about…many tools that will allow you to change your life.  Then I will officially lauch the 21 day Health Challenge for all of you (should you accept this challenge)….and you can share your stories, questions, successes, challenges…every day … and you can have someone with you every step of the way.  I want to share everything I have learned from my mentors over the years that has helped me bring myself back to life, so that you don’t have to go through what I went through.

I weighed in at 222 lbs this am.  I actually don’t do this with the main goal of losing weight…but I know that when I do this I will trim and strengthen my body.  I will also take some measurements of my waist ect, because often the story is told in inches lost, not just weight lost, as you redefine your body.   Get healthier from the inside out!  Be preventative rather than simply trying to treat the problem after it occurs.

Ladies and gentlemen…this is about a life style…a choice of how we live.  We can all do it.  Yes, every single one of us.  Let me be your guide, and together let’s do this!
