An Alkaline Body Is Key To Good Health – Pre 21 Day Transformation Post 1

Keeping your body in an alkaline state is one of the basic principles I discovered that has really helped me, and is based on the work of Dr. Young.  The principles just seemed to make sense to me,  and by applying them I have strengthened my body from the inside out quite dramatically.   I used to be sick all the time.  I would catch any cold…and it would stay with me for what seemed forever.  If someone was sick near me, I would run away.   I had severe sinus problems frequently. I got sinus infections, red irritated eyes.  Now I seldom, and I mean rarely, get sick (and if I do, it is 1/10th of what I used to get when I get a cold…because I actually get rid of it quickly)…and oh, yeah, it helped me lose 30 pounds.  Basically I feel like it was one of the bigger steps in giving me my life and health back.

So what does it mean to be  alkaline?

One of the people who I consider a mentor is Dr. Young.  He says the ideal blood pH is 7.365.   He believes that when your body gets overly acidic, that is the major cause of many illnesses.  So if you keep a more alkaline body, you will have a healthier body.  I can’t argue with this because since I started living by some of these principles I have felt much healthier.

As well, he says that acid can cause a body to hold on to extra fat.  Fat is used to help protect the body from too much acid.  So if you have excess acid, then the body will create fat cells to carry acids away from vital organs in an effort to protect them.  So in a sense the fat is saving your life..but only if you need it due to overacidity.  So decrease the acidity of your body, and your body will have less reason to hold fat…it can release it.    Again, I can’t argue, because I have lost a good amount of weight since ensuring my body is more alkaline.

Our life styles are very acidic.  Too much stress contributes to an acidic lifestyle.  A poor diet filled with processed foods and sugar contributes to an acidic lifestyle.   We are literally killing ourselves with our lifestyle.

So what can you do?

You can take control of your life and change things that are 100% within your ability to change.

Make your body more alkaline!  Eat a more alkaline diet.  Lots of fresh vegetables, especially green vegetables!  Eat as much as you can raw, and what you can’t eat raw, cook at low temperatures.  Don’t microwave if you can avoid it.  Drink lots of good water.  Decrease your sugar.  Avoid processed foods as much as possible.  Avoid bad salt.  East good salt.  Avoid bad fat.  Eat good fat.  Avoid dairy products as much as possible (there seems to be a huge connection between dairy and sinus problems) Avoid meat if possible. Decrease your coffee, your alcohol.   (I can hear some of you saying…Are you kidding me?  What is left to eat?  Don’t worry there is cornucopia of good things to eat…and you can modify your diet as slowly as you want…it is fully up to you…you are the boss of your body!)

Good Food to Eat #1

Here is one example of a great food to eat to make yourself more alkaline.  Cucumbers.  Cucumbers are said to be 95% water, so they play an important part in helping to hydrate your body naturally…so yes you can actually drink water while eating!  Some initial research shows they may have antioxidant and anti-inflamatory properties.  They are fat free, cholesterol free, salt free.  Cucumbers can be a source of nutrients and minerals.  And as found in www.whfoods.com,  “Cucumbers are now known to contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol–three lignans that have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as well as several cancer types, including breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers.”    Funny I used to really detest cucumbers. Just didn’t like them.  But as I educated myself, I began to see how good they were for me, so I tried eating them with a new frame of mind.  Lo and behold, I actually like them now!   Amazing how the more one educates themselves, the different ways things are viewed.

I use cucumbers as my main base in juicing (It is amazing how much nice refreshing green water comes out of them when I juice!). I put them in salads.  I put them on a Subway sub if I have one.  They are delicious, refreshing, they are filled with good water so they help hydrate you, and they are super alkalizing.

I am listing cucumbers first because they are easy to find, relatively cheap to buy, they can be used in a number of ways, they help hydrate your body, and they naturally taste good.  So cucumbers are one of the best foods you can eat.  As you begin to build your list of foods to buy in preparation for the health challenge this is one of them.

Tomorrow I will start to delve more into more specifics of what other foods can heal  (like the cucumber) and what foods can harm you.
